For today 9/11/09 Yahoo is featuring the world record breaking of a cheetah. The article says Sarah ran 100 meters in 6.13 seconds. Meaning 16.31 meters/second. That's only 36.48 miles/hour. Why then do books and other sources claim speeds up to 70mph?
